We have a winner: Melody Hu, a junior from Wayzata High School in Minneapolis, MN, was the last standing at the 2007 Brain Bee Championship, held during Brain Awareness Week at the University of Maryland in Baltimore.
The IBB is a neuroscience competition for high school students from around the world, coordinated by the Dana Alliance. Local Brain Bee competitions were held leading up to the big event, March 16 and 17; 26 regional winners were eligible for the big game.
After the first round of competition there was a three-way tie, but in the final round Melody finished in first place, followed by Sanat Sethi, representing the North-South Foundation in the Chicago region; Morgan Bell from Thomas Jefferson High School, representing the Frederick, MD, Brain Bee; Carol Cui from Toronto, Canada, and Tim Mew from St. Paul's School in Brisbane, Australia.
I enjoyed the regional competition held here at Dana Center in Washington in February. Hope you can make it to another competition next year.
