We’ve highlighted a few of the exciting events that took place for Brain Awareness Week (BAW) in Africa, now it is time to travel over to Asia and the Middle East where BAW events took place in India, Israel, Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
As in past years, Turkey is a regional leader in promoting BAW. With nearly thirty events on the BAW Calendar, Dana’s Turkish partners planned a full spectrum of events. The Eskisehir Osmangazi University not only hosted the 8th Turkish National Brain Bee, but also conducted laboratory visits and lectures on a range of topics, from ADHD to nutrition tips for the brain. The University is a long-time partner, and we highlighted its work in one of our 2012 Partner Interviews.
In Israel and India, the arts and neuroscience collided in fun and creative programs. In Israel, the Jerusalem Cinematheque featured a series of brain-related film screenings. While in India, students from the Presidency University joined other students in Kolkata for a brain trivia initiative, complete with an orchestra performance.
There were plenty of other events across the Asian continent, so be sure to check the International Calendar for more.
