Gear Up for Brain Awareness Week 2018!

With Brain Awareness Week 2018 (March 12-18) only a few short months away, it is time for BAW Partners to kick their planning into high gear and to take advantage of the resources we have to offer on the BAW website! What is Brain Awareness Week, you might ask? BAW is the global campaign to increase public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research. Around the world, BAW Partners organize brain-related events and initiatives, uniting their efforts every March in a celebration of the brain.

BAW Partners can log in to their accounts to post their events and check out activities organized by other partners on the BAW Calendar of Events. Members of the public can search the calendar for events to attend in their area. Partners within the United States can now submit their orders for free bulk quantities of our publications and promotional materials to share with their BAW audiences!

For BAW 2018, we also debut our new BAW Sticker, created by Marianne Claire Bacani, a BAW Partner based in Vancouver, Canada that will be distributed within the United States. Bacani was the first-place winner of the first Sticker Design Contest for BAW.

Many resources are available for all partners around the globe including event ideas and planning tips, education and science resources, and outreach tools.  Our outreach tools provide information on communicating with the media, using social media, building a target audience for BAW events and activities and obtaining BAW proclamations.
Be sure to check out our easily printable and shareable downloadable materials including our new BAW Coloring Sheets on The Five Senses (Sight, Taste, Sound, Smell, and Touch) for young children on our Downloadable Materials for Kids page – we have facts sheets, lesson plans, and puzzles too. Our Downloadable Materials for Adults page includes fact sheets and brain briefs.

Partners also can find more tips and resources on the BAW Facebook page and news from other partners via Twitter #brainweek. Stay tuned for more coverage of BAW 2018!
