This year’s Brain Awareness Week (BAW) was another success with over 850 registered events worldwide (including 42 countries and 44 states)! We spoke with BAW partners from Korea, Israel, and the US, and went to the Rubin Museum of Art in NYC to learn more about perception with their Brainwave series. A Day in the Life of Successful Aging & Your Brain!

For Brain Awareness Week, the Dana Foundation presented a Successful Aging & Your Brain (SA&YB) program, alongside AARP Orlando and Telemundo, at Engelwood Neighborhood Center in Orlando, FL.

Ambrosio J. Romero, M.D., F.A.A.F.P, discussed how memory is affected as one ages, what types of diseases exist and how to avoid them, and what you can do to age healthily. Check out the video to see a day in the life of our SA&YB events!

New PSA: Successful Aging & Your Brain

It’s never too late to start living a brain-healthy life! Our new Successful Aging & Your Brain public service announcement illustrates easy steps (as recommended by the Institute of Medicine) we can all take to keep our brains healthy and sharp as we grow older. The PSA recommends that we stay active with regular exercise, reduce vascular risk factors (like high blood pressure and cholesterol) with good diet, talk to the doctor about diseases and drugs that may impair brain function, and stay active socially and intellectually.

Free Successful Aging & Your Brain Program in Maine!

For people in the Greater Portland, Maine area who are interested in learning about the aging brain and living a brain-healthy lifestyle, a Successful Aging & Your Brain program will be held next Thursday, October 27th from 3 to 5 p.m. at the University of New England’s (UNE) Ludke Audirorium at 716 Stevens Ave., Portland.

Successful Aging & Your Brain at NYU

The Dana Foundation’s Successful Aging & Your Brain (formerly “Staying Sharp”) initiative partnered with New York University to host a Community Brain Fair yesterday as part of Brain Awareness Week (BAW).  This week highlights the global campaign to increase public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research through programs and events happening all over the world. The free panel discussion and brain fair, held at New York University’s Langone Medical Center, included exhibits for kids and information on how the brain works.
